Can we just agree that Nordstrom is probably the best place to shop?

The Half Yearly Sale is going on now through June 4 and almost everything is 40% off with this one. You can find me shopping Women, but don’t forget this sale also applies to Men, Kids + Home.

This HY Sale is a favorite and things always fly out, so grab what you love. To be honest, I typically overbuy and return what I can’t justify keeping. Better safe than sorry, right?

In no particular order, here are some of my favorite finds! Ready, set, add to cart..

“Life doesn’t come with a manual, it comes with a Mother.”

-Unknown

Happy Mother’s Day to all the Momma’s! I would define motherhood as the hardest job on earth, with the worst pay and the most reward. It’s a journey to a new shade of crazy that we come to embrace + enjoy, as we cope with the after effects of the insanity. It’s a great.. What was I saying? 😉 Oh yeah, insanity..

We’re all just trying to make motherhood count, as we walk that fine line between our sanity + trying to figure out what that smell is. When childless people talk about having kids, I want to yell, “Don’t do it!” and, “It’ll be the best thing ever!” all at the same time.

These are just a few words I collected to describe our existence:

Sacrificial.

Cleaning lady.

Chef.

Chauffeur.

Laundry. So much laundry.

Referee.

Crumbs.

Tears.

Smiles.

Legos. Lots of them.

Twirling.

Laughing.

Chasing.

Blessed. Mostly blessed.

With all the hats we wear, I think there should be a once monthly Mother’s Day. Just saying.. 🙂

One thing motherhood has taught me is that God does not always deal us easy cards. The only thing our firstborn and secondborn have in common is us as parents.

Our 3 year old, Breckin, is pure sugar. This sweet, brown-eyed boy prettymuch had a smile on his face at birth, he’s smart, he’s hilarious, he’s very compliant and he loves on us every chance he gets.

This 6-going-on-14 little girl of ours has been my greatest challenge. She is the most tomboy, social, outgoing, funny, sophisticated but crazy person I know. She’s also embarrassed to be seen with me in front of her friends (ALREADY!) and, let’s just say, it took a cinnamon roll and a baby to play with to convince her to wear this skirt for pictures. You could say she’s a little strong-willed (which I hear is an incredible attribute once she’s an adult). 😉 Oh and she’s happiest when you don’t touch her, look at her or talk to her. We do all of those things anyway. #toobadgetoverit

This mom + me shoot is one I’ve had rolling around in the back of my head for a while and, with the help of AMP Images, it finally happened last week. I’m so glad it came to fruition before this “little” girl is entirely too pre-teen to endure it. 🙂

Life with kids is a forever adjustment, but there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for them.

(Not pictured is one amazing husband who was hard at work while we played at the park. We could not function without him and he will be well celebrated on Father’s Day!)

My long hair is all thanks to my Halo + you can find Addison’s skirt here. My skirt is sold out from Target, but this one is similar.

Huge shoutout to Amy of AMP Images for these sweet shots + forever memories. It’s not everyday your photoshoot is also a fun playdate at the park. We had an all-around blast and I highly recommend connecting with Amy if you want some great images!

I hope you all have a fun day celebrating all that us moms do. If you have ever loved a child, this day is all about you.

Summer is coming.

If you want some long, full summer hair that you can just pop in and go, let’s talk HaloCouture.

I have worn extensions in everything from clip-ins to cornrowed wefts to tape-ins to beads to fusion. My favorite method is tape-ins because they are real human remy hair + damage-free + you get a lot of hair in a little time, but, they add all-around maintenance + get thrown away after 4-6 months. I love the Halo because you get all of that for a lower cost and you never have to sleep in it + spend an hour blowdrying + style repeatedly + throw it away. It’s a single weft that sits under your top layer of hair that’s held on by a clear string across the top of your bangs. Easy.

If you have ever wanted length or fullness in you hair without a commitment, say hello to a Halo.

What is it? A full head of hair all rolled into a single weft that’s held in place by a clear wire. It’s virtually undetectable + can be popped in and out of your hair in seconds. Watch how to wear it here.

How long will my hair be? I recommend not going longer than doubling the length you have now. I’m wearing a 22″ layered.

The original Halo (haircut required) comes in multiple lengths: 12″, 16″, 20″, 24″

The layered Halo (my all-time favorite + no haircut needed) comes in: 14″, 18″, 22″

Does it come in my color? Some colors are pretty spot on, while others will require having your stylist tone or add some lowlights to get that perfect match. If you need to color it, you will only have to do so once. Make sure your stylist uses deposit-only color. The halo is available in most of these COLORS.

How much does it cost? I highly recommend the layered halo so you don’t have to take it in to your stylist and pay for a haircut to have it shaped and layered. The layered Halo runs $430 for 14″, $480 for 18″, $580 for 22″.

How long does it take to receive my item? You will need to be color matched (by me or pick your color online) and once the hair is ordered, you will have it within 2 weeks. You can grab it from me directly or have it mailed to you.

Is a Halo better than fusion, beads and tape-in extensions? It’s not only less expensive up front, but it’s also a better value because, when well cared for, you get to keep it for life (or until you change your haircolor or your own hair grows out). There are so subsequent appointments needed after your color match as you should not need it cut, colored, applied, tightened or removed. Wear it all day and pop it out before your head hits the pillow. 🙂

You’re going to ♡ it.

*Sales are final. I will reach out for payment prior to placing your order.

“There are only two ways to influence human behavior: you can manipulate it or you can inspire it.”

-Simon Sinek

People often ask me how I have the time to blog. I’ll tell you my secret: I don’t.

As I’m typing this, one kid is napping and the other is doing heaven only knows what. A handful of months ago, it took me a week to finish writing one. single. post. because, well, wiping bottoms, eating candy, blowing noses, chocolate, fighting, junk food, fishing around the drawer of sharpies, and did I mention sugar? Not included in the normal 5 minute rotations are the real heart-stopping moments. These are the moments where I drop my laptop and dash down the hall toward the sound of screaming, the front door opening, running water or loud crashes. And then there’s the whole grey area of too much silence.. it’s SO nice, but you guys, it’s always bad. Always.

Parenthood is one of those things that we would never trade and in that same exact breath, we mutter, “what the flip were we thinking?” Managing other human lives? Really? All of which are cute, but seem to have a death wish (or are at least searching for just the right means to poison themselves). The task used to be more simple: keep them alive. Welp, our task has evolved folks..

We are now expected to keep them alive + cater to their happiness + shower and look presentable ourselves + cook organic meals + plug our kids into every activity under the sun + attend said activities + maintain multiple social media accounts and some mom’s even go to work everyday! Oh, and do it on little to no sleep and perpetual sickness. And these are just a few expectations that flew into my tired head.. here’s an awesome video that hilariously sums it all up. It’s amazing we haven’t all taken up day drinking. Cheers to us.

Let me jump to another question I’ve been asked a handful of times; Am I a model? Hang on, I’m choking on my grilled cheese..

No, I’m not. I vowed a long time ago not to be that mom that’s always behind the camera. For every 18348 pictures of the children, most of the time you find their mother in approximately 2. And one of those may not even count, because it’s just part of her arm that snuck into the frame. I’ve put no expectations on myself except to stay me, hold on to my personal interests and jump into some pictures. Hair + fashion are my jam and I’m just trying to pursue those passions so they don’t die at the feet of my children. You’re reading my efforts. 🙂

Passions aside, my constant will always be Jesus and the two absolutes that cannot be squashed are the foodie + the creativity in me.

Moms are overworked and under-funned. I just made that up, but most of us need more fun. We lack something of our own that lights us up. This blog is exclusively mine and I fill with all the things that light me up. It’s a small piece of my existence, but as always, I hope it entertains and inspires. If you haven’t found that thing yet, make it a point to find. Do more of what gives you life + jump into more picture with your babies. You’ll be glad you did.

We are so close to summer,  I can taste it. Literally.

We live on this macaroni salad + watermelon + spaghetti + corn all late spring/summer long. Not much is involved in making watermelon and corn, so with this recipe, you’ll be able to create most of our menu. Maybe I will get around to posting my spaghetti sauce recipe at some point, too.

This recipe is my favorite because it’s easy + I’ve tweaked it to (what I consider) perfection + there’s no weird aftertaste. It’s not fancy and it’s delicious.  Try it!

RECIPE

1 16oz Bag Macaroni, cooked (I use Trader Joes)

2/3 Cup Celery, chopped

2/3 Cup Dill Pickle, chopped

6-8 Good Shakes of Minced Dried Onion

1  1/2 Cups Mayonnaise (I use Vegenaise)

2-3 Tbsp Dill Pickle Juice

3 Tbsp Yellow Mustard

1 Tbsp Dried Chives

1 Tbsp Dried Dill Weed (I sometimes use more because I love it)

1 Tbsp Dried Parsley

Optional: 3 Hard-Boiled Eggs, chopped

Salt, to taste

Pepper, to taste

  1. Cook pasta according to directions + cold rinse + drain + set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the mayo, pickle juice, mustard, chives, dill weed, parsley, salt and pepper.
  3. Chop the celery, onion and pickles and combine with the mayo mixture.
  4. Mix the dressing with the pasta until well combined.
  5. Refrigerate until chilled + serve. Enjoy!
