What is the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is the best sale of the entire year. If you have ever shopped it before, you know what I’m talking about!

For a limited time, brand new fall + winter styles (including lots of well-known name brands) are marked down at majorly discounted prices. These aren’t old, ugly, clearanced items that have been sitting on the shelves, these are brand new fall + winter styles on sale for a limited time only. Prices go back up following the sale. It may feel odd in shop warm clothes in the middle of summer, but these are key pieces. This is the sale where I snag all of the kids back-to-school items, because I would never normally spend for the items at full price + new warm pieces for myself. Because these pieces are brand new, you know you are buying what’s trending for the upcoming seasons!

When is the sale?

Early Access

Starts July 12, 2018

Ends July 19, 2018

Public Access

Starts July 20, 2018

Ends August 5, 2018

What is Early Access? How can I shop then?

Early Access is a time frame where only Nordstrom cardholders can shop. The card has no annual fees and you will receive a $40 bonus note when you make any purchase on your new card the day that you’re approved. If approved, you can sign in to access your card online and start shopping right away.

The key benefit to shopping early access is everything (even the popular items) will be available to shop before sizes are limited or sell out. I cannot emphasize enough how quickly the popular pieces fly out. It’s proven to be true the past couple of years. It is possible that items will be re-stocked during the sale, however, there is no guarantee.

Shopping Tips

My number one tip for shopping the sale: If you like it, buy it!

As mentioned above, once it’s gone, it might be gone for good. I even recommend purchasing something you love in a few sizes if you’re unsure of fit. Nordstrom’s return policy is amazing, so you shouldn’t have a problem returning anything that doesn’t fit or you change your mind on. They also provide a prepaid shipping label for all returns if you can’t make it into the store. Easy!

If you plan on shopping the sale, I recommend hopping online and shopping right away! The sale begins at 12am on July 12th. I will round up all my favorites for you once things kick off, so keep any eye out! I will also try and keep you posted on all re-stocks! Keep an eye on my stories on Instagram for details.

As far as sneak peaks prior to the start of the sale, look for a yellow catalog in the mail. You can also browse it here! That’s as much as Nordstrom has disclosed.

I think that covers it! Throw any questions my way! Also, feel free to DM me if you have anything specific you’re looking for. I’d love to keep you in the back of my mind while shopping/posting. 🙂

I can’t wait!!!

Break out the firecrackers! It’s July, folks. The month of scared dogs, crying babies, enthused children and really excited dads.

This month kicks off so many things. Our independence, a full month of summer goodness and, let us not forget, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! More on that later.

The 4th of July feels like Christmas, but without the parkas.

Most everyone has the day off to just relax with family and there’s usually good food involved. We usually find our way to the play in the lake, too. That makes it a favorite in my book.

The kids love it + I can’t help but see the irony here. ‘Independence’ describes these two babies of ours pretty well. If it weren’t for food + transportation, they probably would’ve left home a long time ago.

I’ve never seen a four year old with a full-time job, but Breckin could easily be the first. Addison can’t wait to grow up and live out her aspiration of becoming a zookeeper, and she will probably do it. Do independent and strong-willed go together? 😉

We had a blast taking these pics around Seattle with Trisha Marie Photography! Check her out if you need a photog. Here are some more shots from our d̶i̶r̶t̶y̶ favorite city!

Have a fun + safe holiday! And as always, you guys are cooler than sugar in a Kindergarten class when you shop my affiliate links. Thank you.

Is it just me or did June fly by?!

I think I say this every single month, but with the kids end-of-year activities and functions + the 12,000 things always on my to-do list, here we are.

June’s life highlights include attending my first modeling audition (didn’t get it, but I successfully drove myself there without barfing, so it’s a win), working as a social media consultant (yay for when passions pay off!) and for the second year in a row I found myself sitting next to Pete Carroll at my daughter’s dance performance. I’m not a big deal, I just sit by people who are.

Beyond these highlights in life, I have a few favorites in fashion too. I want to close out this month with items you need + will see a lot of this summer!

HAIR SCARVES

JUMPSUITS

STRAW BAGS

RUFFLES + FLUTTERS

CHUNKY HEELS

I have 2 things to say about this:

✖I think I’ve been waiting my whole life for hair scarves to become a thing.

✖This is legit my favorite fashion season so far.

Also, thank you for your support in purchasing through my affiliate links. I truly appreciate the love!

No fashion today, just deliciousness.

I jumped on the gluten-free + dairy-free bandwagon last fall and realized these cookies were missing from my life. I’ve also cut way down on how much sugar I consume, so naturally, I modified this recipe to fit my phase of life.

If you’re someone who eats pretty clean anyway, these still taste just like eating cookies!

I love that they’re packed with good stuff; I may or not eat them for breakfast some days. #momlife

These are simple + easy + delicious.

RECIPE

makes ~24 cookies

1/2 Cup Coconut Oil

1/2-3/4 Cup Honey (pure stuff – ours comes from the farmer’s market)

1/2 Cup Vanilla Almond Milk or Cocoa Almond Cashew Milk (found @ Trader Joe’s, I sometimes use 1/2 of each)

4 Tbsp Cocoa Powder (pure stuff –  should have one ingredient)

Pinch Pink Himalayan Salt

1/2 Cup Almond Butter (I use unsalted chunky)

2 Tsp Vanilla Extract

3 Cups Gluten-Free Rolled Oats

  1. Add the first five ingredients into a large saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil and hold for 1 minute.
  3. Remove from heat.
  4. Add almond butter + vanilla into the mixture and stir until melted.
  5. Mix in the dry oats until they are completely coated.
  6. Drop cookies by tablespoonfuls onto wax paper.
  7. Let cool until set.
  8. Store sealed in the refrigerator for up to a week.

You already know I love a good sale!

Nordstrom’s Half Yearly Sale is going on now – June 3rd. This one is a good one to grab your favorite things in some more colors + land on something outside your comfort zone, since you’re not paying full price. Some items are already low on inventory or sold out, so jump on what you love!

I’m sharing my picks to help break up the days between all of our mom uniforms. Let’s turn those yoga pants into some white denim.

I spend several days pulling together + photographing + organizing all of my finds and your continued support is so valuable to me! I always appreciate your backing along this journey. Not gonna lie, I even do a happy dance when I see retailer commissions come through.

Here’s how it works:

✔Click on any of my items to shop.

✔The purchase of that item (or anything else!) through that link keeps me in business. You do not have to check out with the item you clicked on.

Easy! Maybe someday I’ll show you my happy dance. But not today.

One noteable is that almost everything below comes in multiple colors, so if you don’t love what’s shown, check it out anyway to see all your options!! For example, these heels. Basics + colors galore!!

These looks are all brought to you by a loud dressing room, busting at the seams with two kids. If you look hard enough, you can probably spy children in most of the pics. Enjoy.

Wearing this romper in a 4-6. Size up in this one, as I could’ve done a medium. Super cute cut + love the floral detailing!

Wearing this silver top in an 8 for the length. Love the slit sleeve detail.

Wearing these studded jeans in a 26 and I probably could’ve gone down a size. The sparkly detailing is a nice change of pace from your everyday denim + these are the perfect pant leg length to pair with some strappy shoes.

Wearing this off-the-shoulder top in an 8. It’s the perfect “crop” to wear with high-waist bottoms when you don’t want to show any skin, but you want to be on trend.

Wearing this crinkle skirt in a 4. Finally a piece of fashion that won’t show my lack of ironing.. it comes crinkled! Grab the matching top to make it a set.

Wearing this flowy dress in a M. These badboys were on the sale rack, but are not in fact on sale online. Check with your local store to see if you can find on sale! Either way, worth every penny. My favorite item!

Wearing this ruffle top in a S. Super soft + not too short!

Grabbed this laced jacket in a S. I love the contrasting accents + it’s super comfy for faux leather. Great price!

Wearing these denim shorts in a 27 and they fit like a glove. Go one size up from your norm in these. Cute side fringe detail + under $30!

Wearing this lemon lime blazer in a 6. I found this in store, but it’s not available online. Check your local store for this one or check out similar options here and here.

Wearing this pink top in an 8. I love the peplum + bell sleeve detailing. Perfect for work or a special occasion, comes in black + it’s under $25!
